Change to opening day first cast
There will be a slight change to the first cast on opening day due to the Fisheries Minister having to pull out last minute - The honour will now go to veteran angler Sandy Patterson.
Sandy is a well-known and well-respected member of the IAC, it will be his 80th Birthday year so an extra special season for him. What better way to start an 80th birthday season than to open his favourite River.
Passing of former member
It is with more sadness to announce the death of former long-term member of the Inverness Angling Club.
Douglas Grigor (Dougie) aged seventy-nine passed away suddenly but peacefully at Raigmore Hospital on the 18th of January 2024.
There will be a funeral service on the 2nd of February 12 noon at John Fraser and son, Chapel Street, Inverness. No flowers but donations to the Highland Hospice may be given.
Thoughts go out to his family as this sad time.
Opening Day Ceremony
Opening day of the 2024 Salmon season on the river Ness is upon us and is a mere 12 days away, how time flies!
Mairi Gougeon Scottish Fisheries Minister will be in attendance to open the river with the first cast at the Mill Stream pool.
Anglers will meet at the Mill 10am for 10:30am on Thursday the 1st of Feburary, so please do come along.
As always there will be a piper for the ceremony, bacon rolls and a dram waiting for you to warm you up.

Ness District Fishery Board Annual Public Meeting
The NDFB will be hosting their annual public meeting on Tuesday the 23rd of January 2024, 7pm Highland Rugby Club, Canal Park, Clubhouse, Inverness, IV3 5SS.
The following matters will be considered:
- The activities of the Board for the year to December 2023
- Presentation of the 2023 Annual Report and Accounts
- Priorities for the Board for the next year
- Question and Answer Session

Great Sadness
It is with great sadness to announce the death of another long-term Inverness Angling Club member.
Kenny Mackenzie (also known to many as sweetie man Kenny) sadly passed away on Monday the 15th of January.
He was another well-known regular at the Mill Stream pool, Both Kenny and Archie served on the committee for several years.
Funeral for Kenny is on the 30th Jan 12:30 at William Frasers if anyone would like to pay respects.
Thoughts are with both families at this sad time.
Sad loss of long term member
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of long term member Archie Campbell - Archie frequently fished the Mill pool of the Inverness Angling Club and was also a regular down at the Little Isle pool nearly every Saturday morning for a blether, he will be sorley missed.
