1 Introduction
The following is subject to any overriding conditions in Scottish Government legislation or guidance. For example, social distancing forbids any assembly of more than two persons, and for people to remain a minimum of two metres apart. Equally, relaxation does not apply to those required to self-isolate because of current or recent symptoms of Covid-19.
2 Social distancing
2.1 Anglers must maintain social distancing to reduce the spread of Covid-19. This is in the interests of all anglers, their families and the general public.
2.2 Anglers should not assemble in groups of more than two. All riverside huts will remain closed until current social distancing regulations are relaxed or removed.
2.3 Allow appropriate separation when parking cars and in queuing that may form to begin fishing at beat posts, and in rest periods on riverside benches.
3 Travel
3.1 Travel to the IAC fishings is subject to a recommended government limit of five miles.
3.2 Anglers travelling in motor vehicles should do so alone, unless accompanied by a member of the same household.
4 Fishing
4.1 Inverness Angling Club’s fishings are open to club members, club ticket holders and day ticket anglers - within the current permitted travel area. Permits must be carried at all times and be available for inspection.
4.2 Anglers must observe all rules of the club, as printed in permits, and all sections of these additional rules which are designed to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
4.3 To protect them from any spread of Covid-19, the club strongly recommends that anglers wear appropriate disposable gloves and carry sanitising products with them at all times to avoid virus transmission from touching rod rests, gates and benches. Please dispose of gloves in appropriate waste bins.
4.4 Anglers must not share fishing tackle, or equipment, except with members of the same household.
4.5 While it is possible that anglers may assist each other in landing a fish, nets or other fishing tackle should not be shared.
5 Distribution of permits
5.1 IAC is considering making memberships and visitor permits available by post or online, in addition to its FishPal bookings. Meantime, all membership renewals or ticket purchases should be referred to membership secretary John Ralph at This email address is being protected from spambots. 6 Observance
6.1 It is crucial that members of Inverness Angling Club, and all visitors, closely observe the guidelines set out in relation to the control of Covid-19. Repeated breaches of these guidelines could result in the club being ordered to close its fishery.
